Automatic Door Openers

Brand can definitely matter. Not all openers are the same. Some are known for lasting 20-30 years (sometimes longer) and some are rated 7-10 years with many repairs in between. For our customers’ peace of mind, we generally install the premium LiftMaster Professional or Chamberlain openers that are very highly rated and well known in the industry for their durability and longevity. While they may cost slightly more upon installation, the quality in product, in our opinion, is well worth it. If you keep your system maintained, springs balanced and tensioned properly, you may get many years out of these openers.

This will depend on a few factors. Some reasons you may choose to replace vs repair might be:

·   The opener is older and more repairs may be needed in the future adding up in costs

·   Parts are no longer manufactured for your opener

·   The cost of repair is close to or higher than the cost of a new opener

·   You would like to upgrade to reduce noise (belt drive), new safety features, and technological advances

·   You have installed a heavier door that may need a stronger motor that what you have

For most standard garage doors, a ½ HP opener is more than enough to lift the door. Since the springs are what do most of the lifting of the door, the opener is just there to gently assist it. This is why it is so important to have quality springs that are balanced in order not to strip out the opener.

If you have an oversized or overlay door, you may opt to go with a DC motor instead of an AC motor. While they are not rated in horsepower, they are extremely powerful. They also will be quieter for either chain or belt drive and will often come with added features such as battery back up and a camera.

Chain drive vs belt drive? Chain drives are the most economical and are extremely durable. Belt drives are quite durable as well and will be much quieter than most of the chain drives. So, it’s all your preference!

We have many options for technological features depending on the model you choose. Many of the features will come stock with all of our openers such as wifi ability with remote access through the free myQ app, safety reversal, remote controls, rolling code technology, HomeLink (programming the car buttons to the opener) and more. Some additional features with some models will be battery backup, LED lighting, built-in two-way camera, Bluetooth technology, motion sensing light activation, Amazon Key (secure in-garage package and grocery delivery), and more!

There are a couple benefits to having a battery back-up garage door opener.

1. If you power goes out and you arrive home, your opener will still open the door.

2. If your power goes out, normally it will wipe out all of your codes and remotes/cars/keypad will have to be reprogrammed. You may avoid this with a battery backup.

A DC motor chain drive will be the quietest of the chain drive openers, if you are looking to stick with a chain drive. In general, when people are looking to reduce noise, they opt for the belt drive. The ½ HP is great, and the DC motor belt drive is even quieter!

We sure can! However, we do highly recommend the openers that we install because they are exceptional quality and can be tough to find in their full form (opener rail included and all) other than through authorized garage door companies. Retail stores generally will not carry LiftMaster Professional, and when purchased online, they generally do not come with one of the most important components, the solid pieced rail. As mentioned before, brand can really matter when it comes to quality and longevity. We also be able to offer a much more comprehensive and longer warranty on our hand picked openers.
